Ms. Lucas is an experienced litigator, having represented both large and small employers in a broad range of employment matters in both State and Federal Courts. She defends employers in wage and hour class actions and lawsuits brough under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). She has also successfully defended claims against employers for wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, unfair business practices, and breach of contract and has represented employers on claims for misappropriation of trade secrets. Ms. Lucas has represented employers in civil trials, binding arbitration, and before the state appellate courts and the California Supreme Court. Ms. Lucas is a persuasive advocate and an effective negotiator. Through her strategic and pragmatic approach, she has effectively brought many matters to early, cost-effective resolution.
Ms. Lucas also provides solution-based advice to employers on a wide spectrum of issues, including wage and hour policies and practices, employment contracts, discipline and discharge, employee privacy, discrimination, harassment, and leaves of absence. She also works with employers in drafting employee handbooks and drug testing policies which meet California’s evolving employment laws.
